Stafford Primary

  • We are fortunate to have many different types of technology at Stafford.  Thanks to school bonds, grants from outside organizations and foundations and our PTSA, our students have easy access to devices and programs that help to increase achievement in reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies and the arts.  From iPads to mini laptops to document cameras, technology serves as an integrated and innovative tool to help improve teaching and learning at Stafford.

As with any activity, our expectations with these tools is for students to be kind, be respectful and be safe. Conversations about use of technology and importance of balance are held within classrooms, with administrators and other support staff.  Students in grades 3-5 are allowed to play appropriate games and view appropriate content during their free time, with an expectation that for every recess spent inside using technology, the next recess is spent outside.  As an effort to promote different types of activity and the idea of balance, Wednesdays and Thursdays are designated days where we ask students to not use technological tools or programs during their free time.

Students in grades 3-5 are allowed to bring their own devices from home, but their access to their devices will be determined by their teacher according to their educational uses and needs. Students in K-2 should not bring their own devices to school, with the exception of cell phones for use in emergency. All students will need to follow classroom and school expectations with their own devices while at school.
